The Vampires Ballad

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 5, 2012, 9:23 AM
Night unfurls her silken wings
She paints the skies with lace
And in her blue, bright stars sing
While moonbeams light her face

Hands with magic dust the land
Her jewels we call 'frost'
Numerous as the desert sands
With morning they are lost

Wise owls sing her praises
While wolves they offer hymns
The busy world, it hushes
As if it knows its sin

Listen to her children
Sweet choir of the night
Hear their music beckon
And share my rapt delight

This the world that calls me
"Come rise up from the grave"
This the wonder my eyes see
So full of what I crave

Life and love and splendor
For these I have a thirst
Though some look with horror
Of men I'm not the worst

Immortal and accursed
Still I dare to love
Though in grief immersed
And hated up above

Still my heart remembers
And yes, I see your face
Memories still linger
This heavens only grace

Crimson floods give succor
But only for a while
For more than blood I hunger
Still pining for your smile

Centuries they come and go
Upon this endless stage
But this I hope you'll always know
Love's written on our page

So I walk with lady night
We journey on together
Lonely in the silver light
Friends through tears forever...

This is also part of my two hundred poem challenge (number 82) the theme is echoes and I wanted to write about a love that echoed through time, undiminished and undying.

I think you've done well to put across your theme of love echoing through time.

It is beautifully sorrowful and captures the pain of the character.

I love the connections between life and death, of thirst and love.
Wonderful job

When a bard sings no matter if he is or was once human, demon, vampire... simply just another castaway from light, so hide among the shadows, craft spells... howl to the moon... This is an extraordinary piece.

Wooooooww....  That is poetry, pure and true, written there. LOve it. It completely tells the truth how true love never, ever dies, even for, no, ESPECIALLY for the forsaken, lonely outcasts like the vampire. Beautiful work!!
