Gentle feelings start to rise
Friendship slowly building

Hearts begin their courtship
The age old primal dance
To fly with joy or fall in pain
For both there is a chance

And so with trepidation
For your hand I slowly reach
Expecting more rejection
But hoping faith you'll teach

Is that acceptance in your eyes
Sweet relief in gentle sigh
Hands together dancing
As eager hearts begin to fly

Sight both seeks and finds
Love mirrored in our eyes
The dance no longer awkward
For caring hearts entwined

Comes enchanted moment
Outside of world and time

Especially ones that hurt
This one rips my wings off
I'm crashing to the dirt

Heal is such a simple word
It's promise full of joy
But despite my souls deep longing
It's a word I can't employ

My heart is more than broken
It's many wounds beyond repair
Once I fought this great injustice
But now I know the worlds unfair

My body has betrayed me
Its aching illness has no cure
Crumbling joints replaced with plastic
This the path I must endure

Heal is such a simple word
But far beyond my reach
Though I think I glimpse in suffering
That there's wisdom she can teach

Expectation long denied
Longing pray

No easy taskThe theme is "can you hear me?"
It's a question I wont ask
To listen to pain and sorrow

To read the words, that's simple
To glimpse the picture's fine
To appraise a simple poem
Ti's just a measure in time

But to read beyond the words
Is to open up a gate
There's a certain vulnerability
In feeling an-others fate

To you my heart is open
My song is there to hear
In truth my burdens heavy
And my hurt gives birth to tears

The theme is "can you hear me?"
It's a question I wont ask
To listen to pain and sorrow
That is no easy task...

The tools of freedomI sit here in this prison cell
The walls and bars I made myself
A string of wrong decisions
And the curse of failing health

But I've found a path to freedom
Where my spirit can take wing
Where this soul's unfettered
And my heart its song can sing

A new world at my fingertips
It's canvass mine to paint
Pen and paper building blocks
That no other hand can taint

How clean the virgin paper page
How wondrous the mighty pen
An open window to my heart and soul
And all that flows from them

I sit here in this prison cell
But despite walls and bars I'm free
For a poets soul cannot be chained
And I've finally found that's me!

The anvilIn a world of falling teardrops
Words echo hurt and pain
Every pen stroke spelling out
My lifetimes gilded frame

The canvass tells the story
But the frame it sets the bounds
The picture may be beautiful
But still the teardrops sound

Beauty is born of sadness
It's expression poetic need

I'm bathing in your soul
To spend my life beside you
